The Classification of Helical Gear Units

Helical gear units are a type of gear mechanism used in various industrial applications to transmit power and motion between two shafts at different angles. They are classified based on various factors, including the arrangement of the gears, the direction of the helix, and the application. Here are the main classifications of helical gear units:
Arrangement of Gears:
Parallel Helical Gear Units: In this arrangement, the shafts of the gears are parallel to each other. They are commonly used in applications where a high level of torque transmission is required.
Perpendicular (Crossed) Helical Gear Units: In this arrangement, the shafts of the gears are positioned at right angles to each other. Crossed helical gear units are used when it is necessary to change the direction of rotation or transmit power between non-parallel shafts.
Direction of Helix:
Right-Hand Helical Gear Units: In right-hand helical gears, the teeth are cut in a right-hand helix, and the gear rotates in a clockwise direction.
Left-Hand Helical Gear Units: In left-hand helical gears, the teeth are cut in a left-hand helix, and the gear rotates in a counterclockwise direction. Left-hand helical gears are used in specific applications where direction reversal is required.
Applications:
Industrial Helical Gear Units: These gear units are commonly used in various industrial machinery, such as conveyors, mixers, cranes, and processing equipment.
Automotive Helical Gear Units: Helical gears are used in automotive applications, including gearboxes and transmissions, to transmit power and torque efficiently.
Single-Stage or Multi-Stage:

Multi-Stage Helical Gear Units: Multi-stage gear units consist of multiple gear pairs, allowing for a higher gear ratio and increased torque transmission. They are used in applications requiring higher gear reductions.
Mounting Position:
Horizontal Helical Gear Units: These units are designed to be mounted horizontally.
Vertical Helical Gear Units: These units are specifically designed for vertical mounting to handle applications where the driving and driven shafts are vertically aligned.
